A Few of my Favorite Things

for Show and Tell Friday
I chose a few of
my favorite things
to show you

A sweet little hair receiver
that my sister found in a box
she bought at an estate sale
ok, so it's not perfect and has a crack in it
but I fell in love with it
and don't you know, that wonderful sister
gave it to me

I think it is so beautiful

just one of my favorite things!

MR. PEANUT
I loved Mr Peanut as a child
I just thought he was the cutest with
his top hat and cane.
This is some sort of card that my
mom found in my dad's stuff
after he passed away.
It really brings back memories
I remember my dad taking us to a
Peanut factory when I was younger
(this was when I fell in love with Mr.Peanut)
just one of my favorite things

MY GERALDINE BELINDA BOOK
And then there's the charming little
Geraldine Belinda book.
I had this book as a young girl
and must have read it a hundred times.
It was all about a little girl that goes
to the store to get some candy
It had a really neat little lesson
to be learned from it
just one of my favorite things

MY PRECIOUS RAINBOW BIBLE
My parents gave to me
in 1962 has been with me ever since
I remember when we moved to a new house
when I was about 16 and hanging out in
the living room with just a flashlight,
a bunch of boxes and the sofa.
I started reading the bible to my younger
twin sisters. We were waiting for everyone
to come back from the house we moved
from and it was getting dark. I think we were
even a little bit scared but as I read the bible
I remember feeling so much better.
This little bible has also served my husband
and I in times of crisis.
just one of my favorite things

Most of my favorite things
really are not things..
but the people and memories associated
with these items.

What about you?
What do you hold close to your heart?

  1. One of my favorite things is my Geraldine Belinda book too! I love the illustrations, and mine is also from my childhood, but it's red. My pages are double - something can slide in-between them. is yours like that? your other favorite things are lovely also. a most delightful post!
