Anyone remember this book? It's a good one. I found it in my mom's bookshelf a few years ago after she passed on. What awesome memories I have of reading this book. It's about a little girl that has 25 pennies saved up and she wants to go to the dime store to buy something for herself. She rejects the idea of inviting her friends since they would just want her to spend her money on them so she "snuck" away. At Tweedles Dime Store she pondered what she might do with her fortune. She ended up buying some small, cheap toys. They were wrapped in a brown paper cone. When she got home she discovered to her horror that she lost her toys on the journey home. All she had left was that horrible brown paper cone. She was sobbing when she heard a knock on her door. Who was it? It was her friends, of course who she earlier snobbed. Why where they here? To give her the toys she dropped on the way home that they found..She felt so embarrassed and ashamed about how she earlier felt about her friends.
What a wonderful story. We sure don't see many stories like this anymore, do we?
Memories rule!
