HERE COMES THE BRIDE

F a s t    f o r w a r d    t o  1 9 4 7:

ALL DRESSED IN WHITE!
The photo was obviously touched up with color
Notice her red lips and pretty eyes,
the golden flames on the candles and in the flowers
and other subtle hints of color

Her best friend's mother made her dress and veil.
When she went for a final fitting she saw
this beautiful veil and was so disapointed to
be told that it was for someone else.

Imagine her delight when she later found
out it was made for her.

Years later her oldest daughter proudly wore
this same dress when she got married

THE FLOWER GIRL AND RING BEARER
The ring bearer is my dad's step brother

He is so cute here.
Interesting that he was wearing shorts
and it was the beginning of February ( Brr..)
Not sure who the flower girl was but she sure is
precious holding on to her partner's arm like that

I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU HUSBAND AND WIFE
My mom's sister (on the left) and a
friend of my dad's served as best man

All smiles here!

The Dad's and Mom's
Bride's parents on left
Groom's parents on the right

Look at all the different
clothing styles here

Love the black gloves!

WEDDING PARTY
from left: My dad's younger sister,
My mom's younger sister,
My mom's cousin,
My mom's older sister, Bride and Groom,
Best man, and Groomsmen,
Flower girl and
my dad's stepbrother (ring bearer)

I just love the sweet muffs adorned
with flowers that all of the ladies are holding

My aunt (the second from the left above)
still attends this same church with her husband
Oh, how wonderful those memories must be for her.

I am dedicating my blog to my parents
and their beautiful love story
that is just waiting to be told,
this month, all month long..

They were married
64 years ago in
February.

  2. You have sooo many wonderful pictures of your parent's wedding, Julie. How interesting that the mothers could get away with wearing black gloves to a wedding back then. ;)

Thanks for linking to the party. I hope you'll join me this Friday for "Funny Faux Pas Follies," as well.
