A curtsey (also spelled curtsy or courtesy') is a
traditional gesture of greeting, in which
a girl or woman bends her knees while bowing her head.
It is the female equivalent of male bowing in Western cultures
Not sure how old this postcard is but isn't she cute?
She probably has a new dress
and a new hairdo..
Check out the background curtains
on the left with the fringe
and the obviously opulent carpet and
wide wallpaper or border
When is the last time you saw anyone curtsey?

I think it might have been Mayday celebrations when I was a teenager--and that was a LONG time ago.
ReplyDeleteWe were all taught how to curtsy, as though we were MayDay Queens. I can still do it. (grin)
Your postcard is delightful! Happy PFF!
Shes darling, and you are right, when was the last time we did a curtsey. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to get back up.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is amazing, I love her expression!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the visit to my blog and for entering my giveaway! So nice to meet you and to discover your lovely blog in return!
All the best,
Anne
This is a really fun card. She looks so grown up. I'd love to see the shoes; they must have had high heels, because it looks like she's standing on her tiptoes.
ReplyDeleteCurtsey.... when did that go out the door... love the postcard... Happy PFF
ReplyDeleteYou're right, she must have had a new hairdo to show off the new frock! She looks like a little old lady. People still curtsy to the queen in the UK, well, more of a bob than a full curtsy. They have I believe, relaxed the rule that you need to do either a bob or a bow when meeting the royal family. So archaic!
