TIMELESS LOVE

This is the photo wallet my dad
carried around with him

WANNA SEE WHAT'S INSIDE????

A small pocket size 1943 calendar

This is interesting, anyone remember these?
anyone know what they were?

There she is, my mom

Oh my goodness, here she is again:

AND NOW FOR SOME RANDOM PHOTOS
OF THE LOVEBIRDS:
 Proud Navy pilot

She's no doubt writing a love letter to her future hubby to be or maybe just jotting  something silly in her secret diary!
Through the years when he was away they sent many love letters to each other...

You just gotta love those dress whites!

I am dedicating my blog to my parents
and their beautiful love story-
 just waiting to be told,
this month, all month long..
for more on their love story
please check back all month long

don't forget to check previous

I will soon post about their wedding
I am in the process of gathering information for that post

They were married

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY DAD AND MOM

IT WAS 1942-

One year after our country entered WWII,
The minimum draft age lowered from 21 to 18 yrs old,
Our president was Franklin D. Roosevelt,
Food rations were implemented,
Gasoline was 19 cents a gallon,
Barbara Streisand and Paul McCartney were born,
The movie Casablanca premiered in NY,
Instant coffee was introduced,
and
Two people that went on their first date that year
ended up falling madly in love with each other
They met in high school
He was walking down the hall
with friends, they were
all chomping on carrot sticks
and imitating Bugs Bunny
He was a high school basketball champ
and is pictured above in this newspaper clipping
receiving an award (he is 3rd from the left)

She was an outgoing gal who loved tennis,
riding horses and had a natural curiosity
of just about everything else life had to offer.
THEIR FIRST DATE-

She asked him to the Sadie Hawkins Hayride
and they double dated with friends.
It was rained out so all four went
to the movies instead
They saw a double feature
"Major and the Minor" and
"Submarine Patrol"
(copy of actual ticket stub is above in collage
my mom saved everything!)
and
the rest is history; as the saying goes...

I'll never forget
the night we met
under the starlit sky

I'll never regret
nor will I ever let
you out of my heart
till I die

(words from a poem
my dad gave my mom
in collage above)

They ended up getting married.
He served as a navy pilot.
She bore six children
and their love for each other just
grew stronger over the years

I am dedicating my blog to my parents
